A helicopter cyclic control mechanism was adapted to be fitted on a test wind turbine and tested for a fixed tip speed ratio with and without pitch control, and at a fixed rotor speed. The test results show that using cyclic pitch variation at fixed tip speed ratios improves the self-starting capability of the turbine.
