Beschreibung

Integrated maternal and child postnatal care in the first days after delivery should be offered for all newborns and their mothers as part of a concerted strategy to improve the chances of survival for the mother-child couple. In Cameroon, only 62% of newborns received health care within a week of birth in a health facility or at home in 2014.Using MICS-V data, this research plans to contribute to improved knowledge of the explanatory factors associated with the use of postnatal care for newborns in Cameroon using descriptive and explanatory multivariate analyses. The results reveal that the characteristics of the mother, those associated with her partner and those of the child are decisive in the use of postnatal care for the newborn. In view of these results, it is important to intensify awareness campaigns and educational talks aimed at the populations of the northern regions, emphasizing the value of postnatal care consultations for both the mother and her newborn.
