But it is not as a \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003emedical man that Doctor Holmes may be discussed in this paper. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWe have to deal altogether with his literary career,¿a career, which \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003efor its brilliancy has not been surpassed on this side of the Atlantic. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAs a poet he differs much from his contemporaries, but the standard \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ehe has reached is as high as that which has been attained by Lowell \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eand Longfellow.
