We have synthesized some novel derivatives of coumarin by Betti¿s protocol and further azo dyes of these derivatives. The research work includes also deals with new oxazine heterocycles synthesized from 7-Hydroxy-4-methyl coumarin by Betti¿s procedure. All the products were well characterized using modern instrumental techniques. Some of these azo dyes were screened against Gram +ve and -ve bacteria and also tested for color fastness.
