A series of \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eempirical studies were therefore directed at \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003estudying the underlying affective and cognitive \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eprocesses in risk, feelings, and operational \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ereadiness within a military setting. Three different \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eprojects are reported, and altogether 8 different \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003emilitary samples participated. Mixed methods and \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003edesigns were applied, ranging from the \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eclassical ¿psychometric risk approach¿, panel data, \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eand field experiments. This work suggests that \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eperceived risk among military personnel relates to \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003erisk exposure, qualitative aspects of the hazard, \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eand to anticipations of anxiousness. Risk perception \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eseems less affected by anticipatory\/experienced \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eemotions or experimentally induced affect.
