In Pakistan, area under maize occupies third position after wheat and rice, 98 % of which is grown in Punjab and N.W.F.P. It is intensely grown on world wide bases and often referred as ¿king of grain crops¿. In Pakistan along with other factors, imbalanced application and improper management of plant essential elements limit yield potential of maize crop.Boron is a micronutrient required for all plant nutrition. Boron is closely associated with cell division and development in the growth regions of the plant, that is, nears the tips of shoots and roots. It is also needed for the growth of the pollen tube during flower pollination and is therefore important for good seed set and fruit development.Keeping in view the significance of above mentioned factors the present study was carried out to compare the production potential of different available maize hybrids and to evaluate their response to B application under the local conditions of Faisalabad.

Role of Boron in Maize

https://shop.autorenwelt.de/products/response-of-maize-hybrids-to-exogenous-boron-supply-von-nauman-shabbir
