This research topic chooses to  investigate the differences in people''s experiences,  their perceptions and feelings about crime and  safety, examining how these are affected by  situational factors in their locality.   The investigation undertakes surveyed, quantitative  analysis to establish initial trends across  residents in two communities in North Tyneside,  namely the estates of Meadow Well, North Shields and  Forest Hall Estate, Benton. The findings of the  quantitative data sample were then utilised to  compile qualitative questions which were presented  to two focus group meetings undertaken with  residents of each area.
