The current study was done to determine the extent of the MRSA prevalence in a selected community in Sri Lanka and to determine the effectiveness of the antibiotic Vancomycin against it. While more than a quarter of the studied population had Staphylococcus aureus in nasal surface, 5.7% of the isolates were found to be MRSA. The varying inhibitory concentrations of Vancomycin against the particular MRSA isolates were all ¿ 2µg\/mL.
