MR2 which degraded 90% chlorpyrifos within 24 hr. CPD-1, CPD-4, CPD-9, CPD-15 and CPD-18 were the other microbes which degraded 70%, 71%, 66%, 80% and 83% respectively in 24 hr. All isolates were characterized by morphological, biochemical, phenotypical and molecular assays. Five highly efficient isolates were characterized by 16S rRNA sequencing. The 16s rRNA identified CPD-1, CPD-4, CPD-9 and CPD-15 as Enterobacter aerogenes, Citrobacter gillenii, Citrobacter braakii and Citrobacter murliniae respectively.
