It is a conscious poverty, for it brushes its \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ethreadbare coat and endeavours to appear respectable. The floor has \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ebeen repaired in one room, while in the next it has been allowed to \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003erot. It shows the futile effort to preserve that which is dying and to \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ebring back that which has fled.
