The time span taken into\n                    \n                    \u003cbr\u003e\n                                        consideration goes mainly from the 1880s to the 1940s; but some brief\n                    \n                    \u003cbr\u003e\n                                        notes on more recent results are also presented in the appendixes.\n                    \n                    \u003cbr\u003e\n                                        \n                    \n                    \u003cbr\u003e\n                                        The work is based on nearly 800 original documents – books, papers, letters,\n                    \n                    \u003cbr\u003e\n                                        newspapers – whose content is not only partially reported, but also\n                    \n                    \u003cbr\u003e\n                                        explained, and inserted in the historical, social and disciplinary context\n                    \n                    \u003cbr\u003e\n                                        of the time.
