There stories  were analyzed through the lense of discourse  analysis. The study reveals that there are military  values embedded in the narratives of these teachers  and that these values and beliefs continue to  influence the teaching of these educators.  Pedagogical implications are discussed in ralation  to the teaching of ESL students and the need for  teachers with a military background to reflect on  how their values and beliefs influence their  teaching practices.
