The novel starts with an\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eautobiographical part, which is about Kurt Vonnegut¿s life after the Second\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWorld War.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIn the following parts Vonnegut writes about Billy Pilgrim. The reader\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003elearns that as a young adult Billy Pilgrim is a soldier in the Second World War\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ejust like Kurt Vonnegut was. He survives this war with the help of other soldiers\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eand later on he settles as a bourgeois civilian with his wife Valencia Merble and\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ehis two children.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eKurt Vonnegut tells the reader that in the time of the Second World War\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBilly Pilgrim has come unstuck in time, and has been kidnapped by aliens from\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ea planet called Tralfamadore. The reader gets to know Billy Pilgrim's life story as\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ewell as his personality. As a round character Billy is shown in different situations\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ewith all his emotions and thoughts. Vonnegut describes traumatic events in\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBilly¿s childhood and also emotionally important events in his grown-up life, like\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ehis 18th wedding anniversary.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAfter the awful situations Billy witnessed in the Second World War, for\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003einstance the Dresden bombing, and an airplane crash he survives, Billy says he\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ewas kidnapped by a flying saucer.
