It is a\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eview of scientific realism that accentuates experimental activity for learning about reality\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003erather than armchair philosophy in the search for utmost metaphysical truth. Chang puts it\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ein a nutshell as follows: ¿If the buzzword for standard realism is truth, it is progress for active\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003erealism.¿ (Chang 2012, 223)\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis term paper attempts to critically look at this new concept, put it in the perspective of\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eother realist concepts and find answers to questions like the following:\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e¿ How does Chang¿s concept fit into the existing landscape of scientific realism?\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e¿ What are the roots of the concept?\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e¿ What is new and attractive in it?\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e¿ What are the weaknesses of the concept?\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eFirst I¿ll try to define scientific realism as a metaphysical and epistemological position as\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eopposed to anti-realism. In the next chapter I¿ll present the main arguments for and against\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003escientific realism, the ¿no miracle¿ argument and the ¿pessimistic meta induction¿, and also\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003elook at them from Hasok Chang¿s angle of view.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThen a brief overview of common realist positions in philosophy of science will be given,\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eincluding Hasok Chang¿s new conception.
