Enzyme characterization shows strong\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003edependence of activity on diverse reaction parameters. The\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eobtained results are transferred to one-phase batch synthesis\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eof®- and (S)-2-butanol where conversion and\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eenantioselectivity are strongly dependend on reaction\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003econditions. Due to limitations like low substrate solubility the\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003esynthesis is transferred to two-phase reaction systems where\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eMTBE is the solvent of choice. Conversion and selectivity are\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003epositively influenced. The same is found for two-phase\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ereactions in a continuous reaction set-up. With the optimum\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ereaction conditions obtained from the batch experiments\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003econversion and selectivity are improved. ADH and cofactor\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eshow exceptionally high stability and high TTN.
