The case study shall examine to\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ewhich extent gender issues were integrated in GSPR in Sierra Leone.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBased on these findings, this analysis will develop recommendations\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ehow gender can be integrated successfully into security sector reform.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe theoretical part of this paper illustrates the concept of security\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003esector reform and its meaning for peace-building and development. In\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eaddition, relevant dimensions and actors are introduced combined with\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ethe exemplification of influencing factors and potential obstacles.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAfterwards the concept of gender is discussed, including its relevance\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003efor development cooperation as well as a description of gender-based\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eviolence and its consequences. The theoretical part concludes by\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003emerging these two concepts and illustrates the relevance and strategies\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eof gender-sensitive police reform. The second part of this analysis\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003efocuses on gender and police reform in Sierra Leone. This chapter\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ebegins with a brief description of the civil war in Sierra Leone as well as the prevalence of gender-based violence. Afterwards the chapter\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eanalyses to which extent gender-sensitive strategies were integrated in\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003epolice reform.
