Bi-ethnic Arab and American participants completed a  questionnaire about demographics and underwent an in- depth interview that explored their experiences as a  bi-ethnic person and the dynamics within their  families. Participants reported a variety of  experiences, though certain themes were extrapolated  from their responses. Participants either identified more strongly with their Western mother or their  Middle Eastern father. Feelings of marginalization  were identified as part of the bi-cultural Arab and  American experience  as well as some identity confusion.
