The predisposing factor for upper gastrointestinal bleeding was found to be the indiscriminate use of NSAIDs, which was revealed in 28% of the total sample, followed by gastritis and alcohol and tobacco consumption in 25%, 13% of the patients had a history of chronic liver disease and finally 9% were tobacco users.
