The first crisis in the Post-\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eCold War Era was the Persian Gulf War, where for the first time the U.S. President\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ewas able to act without paying too much attention to Russia. On the other side, he was\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eaware of the need of consultation with other states. So Bush was wise enough to avoid\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ethe same mistakes other American presidents had done before him, e.g. Lyndon\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eJohnson in the Vietnam War.
