But in which spaces is this music\nactually created? Artists' studios and writing rooms of\nauthors and composers have long been the focus of public\nattention and research. The studios of DJs and electronic\nmusic producers, however, have so far remained\nlargely hidden. They can be found in darkened basements,\nabandoned factories, garages, and backyards, in\nmagnificently converted lofts, formerly squatted houses,\nshared flats or teenage bedrooms. Some exude the aura\nof monastic hermitages, in others production and party\nseem to merge into one another; still others look like\nrubbish dumps for electronic waste. Inside the Studio\npresents an inventory of this rich creative landscape in\nBerlin and Cairo. By interweaving photo documentation\nand interviews, the volume allows intimate insights into\nthe hidden worlds of music production and becomes a\nsurprising and touching portrait of one of the most exciting\ncreative sectors of our time. The project is based on\na research project of the Arab-German Young Academy\nof Sciences and Humanities (AGYA) and was created\nin collaboration with Ricardo Villalobos, Cinthie, Frank\nWiedemann, Modeselektor, Marcel Dettmann, Gudrun\nGut, Westbam, Dr. Motte, Sarah Farina, Perera Elsewhere,\nRobert Henke, Roman Flügel, 3Phaz, Postdrone, Alva Noto\/\nCarsten Nicolai, and many others.\u003c\/p\u003e\n                                \n                \u003cp\u003eGero Cacciatore (* 1974 in Torino) studied photography in Milan\nand worked as an assistant for Giovanni Gastel. He is a freelance\nphotographer, particularly in the fields of corporate photography\nfor fashion brands, still life, travel reportage and photography of\nurban spaces. He lives in Moneglia (Genoa). \u003c\/p\u003e\n                                \n                \u003cp\u003eMatthias Pasdzierny (* 1976 in Göttingen) is a musicologist from\nBerlin (University of the Arts\/Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of\nSciences and Humanities).
