As many know, Iceland\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eis the country where one can witness the phenomenons of Mother Nature: tremendous\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eicecaps and several glaciers, raging rivers and magnificent waterfalls, spouting geysers\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eand steaming solfatara, volcanoes, a multitude of birds and whales. The spectacular\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003elandscape is one reason why Iceland's tourism is successful. But in recent years Iceland\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ealso drew the attention of many industries to itself. For example, many technological and\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003etelecommuniational products have been outsourced in Europe towards Iceland as it\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eprovides many competitive advantages in these fields.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIceland is unique: it is the smallest economy in the world that has its own currency and a\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eflexible exchange rate. It is also an advanced country with excellent institutions meaning\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003elow corruption index, the rule of law, a highly educated population and more (cf. Iceland\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eChamber of Commerce 2006). For most of the 1990s the island presented one of the\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ehighest consistent growth rates in the world and low inflation and unemployment.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eParticularly the resource management in the mainstay fisheries sector, price stability and\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ediversification of the industry contributed to this economic record.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe paper on hand gives an outline of the country.
