For this reason the micellæ remain so small that they are \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003einvisible, even with the microscope. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOn account of their great affinity for water the micellæ surround \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ethemselves with a thick film of it. The attraction of these micellæ for \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ematter of their own kind is felt outside this film. Hence the micellæ \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ewith their films unite themselves into solid masses permeated with \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ewater, unless other forces overcome attraction and re-establish a \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003emicellar solution (as in albumen, glue, gum), where the slightly \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003emoving micellæ show a tendency to cling together in chain-like and \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eother aggregations.
